The atrocious wet and wintery conditions didn’t keep the Parc y Scarlets crowd away as the annual derby clash gets underway.
It was the homeside who got the scoreboard ticking over with a try from winger Steff Evans. The first half was a tasty affair with the Ospreys keeping well in the game before Evans was shown a red card with 36 minutes on the clock.
The Ospreys went ahead 5-9 in the second half and it looked all over for the homeside before a huge scrum pushed the visitors off the ball that led to a Macleod try in the corner, sealing the win.
Scarlets fullback Leigh Halfpenny has three penalty opportunities in the opening fifteen minutes but uncharacteristically misses all three failing to get the Scarlets scoreline underway.
Dimitri Arhip is penalised for an illegal tackle on Gareth Davies giving Dan Jones an opportunity to kick to the corner. The Scarlets start an attacking phase carrying the ball but Ospreys win a turnover. They then lose the ball to a knock on giving Scarlets an attacking scrum to play from.
Scrum half Davies doesn’t manage to gather the ball at the base of the scrum initially but doesn’t panic, keeps his composure before getting out to Evans who shows a great side step to cross the whitewash after the forwards dominated the phase.
What a great bit of work by Davies to stop Sam Davies' grubber kick. It's chased by Scarlets backs, Mcnicholl looks certain to score, he gathers safely but his pass back to Parkes is knocked forward.
We head towards the half hour mark and Ospreys come back on the attack with a decent kick to Scarlets’ 22. The Scarlets have a line out on their own five-metre line and get the ball away safely. Davies’ clearance kick finds Hassler allowing Ospreys to start an attacking phase from the ten-metre line.
With only four minutes remaining of the first half try-scoring winger Evans is shown a red card for a clumsy tackle on Ben John. Both players leave the field with Evans not returning for the remainder of the game.
Ospreys are awarded a penalty and Sam Davies steps up to score a massive penalty as we head towards the final minutes of the first half.

Ospreys have a penalty in Scarlets' 22 after a scrum penalty against Werner Kruger. Sam Davies steps up for second penalty, it’s over and the go ahead for the first time in the game after 50 minutes of play.
We edge towards the hour mark and Scarlets are on the attack in Ospreys half. The ball is turned over allowing the visitors to start their own phase of play into Scarlets territory. A great kick by Sam Davies pushes the Ospreys ahead by four points.
Scarlets make changes with Josh Macleod, Rhys Patchell and Steven Cummins coming on for John Barclay, Dan Jones and David Bulbring respectively.
The Scarlets coaches make more changes with 68 minutes on the clock looking to bring on a spark with fresh legs. Wyn Jones and Aled Davies replace Rob Evans and Gareth Davies respectively.
Despite a mediocre middle quarter, and trailing by four points, it’s the homeside who give their home crowd something to cheer about. The Scarlets come back on the attack in the closing moments. It’s a particularly tense finish.
A scrum on Ospreys 22, in their favour, is pushed off the ball with replacement tighthead Simon Gardiner having a huge impact. The Scarlets are alive in the dying moments of the game. Scarlets centre Scott Williams puts in a wonderful crossfield kick, Josh Macelod is on the wing and he uses all his power to get over the tryline and claim a win for his side! Halfpenny converts the try bringing the final score to 12-9.
