An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Scarlets Rugby medical team, the current Pro 12 champions. The ideal candidate will have the desire for a career in high performance sport and be committed to enhancing their skills and experiences in this area.

Position: Scarlets Age Grade Physiotherapist (predominantly with Under 16's West Squad)

Location: Training in South West Wales and matches across Wales

Salary: £40-50 per session

Role Type: Part time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Scarlets Rugby medical team, the current Pro 12 champions. The ideal candidate will have the desire for a career in high performance sport and be committed to enhancing their skills and experiences in this area.

 

The ideal candidate will be flexible, team orientated and a self starter with an excellent work ethic. This role will provide opportunity to be a part of the Scarlets Performance team's ongoing CPD programme and to learn from experiences practitioners within the team. This role will could suit a newly qualified or junior physiotherapist with a passion for sports medicine.

 

Roles:

  • Provide physiotherapy provision to the Scarlets Regional Age Grade teams, particularly the Under 16's West squad during training and matches
  • Assist in the delivery of movement competency and athlete preparation programmes to the Scarlets Under 16's west squads
  • Assist the Head Academy Physiotherapist with physiotherapy provision to other regional squads and academy players as required
  • Communicate effectively with Scarlets Age Grade & Academy coaches, players, parents and other members of the Scarlets High Performance Department in the provision of care to age grade and academy players
  • Work closely with the Under 16's West Strength and Conditioning coach and the other members of the performance team across the Scarlets structure to implement injury prevention programmes
  • Maintain timely and accurate medical records in accordance with legislation

 

Job requirements:

Essential:

  • BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy
  • HPC and CSP registration
  • A current sports trauma qualification - level 2 immediate care in rugby qualification or equivalent.
  • Evidence of seeking opportunities to gain experience in sports medicine as an undergraduate
  • Evidence of commitment and dedication to a career working in high performance sport
  • A desire to learn and to challenge oneself in a high pressured environment
  • A high level of professionalism at all times must be maintained
  • Know when to seek assistance from more experienced practitioners

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience providing physiotherapy care to a sports team
