The Scarlets v Cardiff Blues derby gets underway in dense fog at Parc y Scarlets as the weather dampen the fireworks but not the mood with both sides looking to ensure a solid performance and result to finish the year strongly.
It’s Cardiff Blues who get first points on the board with a penalty from outside half Gareth Anscombe after Scarlets lose and regain possession and then Blues win a kickable penalty.
Just minutes later they’re awarded a controversial try as Lloyd Williams crosses in the far corn3er3 in front of the North Stand enclosure. Nigel Owens awards the try but a call comes from TMO about a potential foot in touch from the last man. We check with TMO and despite a blue hand in the ruck earlier in the phase the try stands. Anscombe adds the conversion.
From the restart the Scarlets get straight back down in to Blues territory and Johnny McNicholl finds himself with space ahead on the wing, after a fine pass from Will Boyde, in front of the South Stand supporters. He puts peddle to the mettle and he’s over. Prydie, taking charge of the kicking duties, misses the conversion pulling the ball right of the uprights.
On the half hour mark we're up on their line. Jonathan Davies makes a neat break, can't quite make the line. We recycle and go again. A composed passage of play with both forwards and backs combining just metres from the line. The opportunity is squandered as Paul Asquith puts a chip in behind the Blues defensive line. Prydie can’t get hand to it before it goes out.
Outside half Dan Jones replces Kieron Fonotia with five minutes of the first half remaining as the centre heads off for treatment to his left arm.
After an attacking period of play in the opposition 22 possession is handed back to them as we’re penalised for holding on.

Will Boyde darts around the corner, he's all but over the line but is stopped in his tracks just short. Advantage comes our way and we kick to the corner. The opportunity is squandered as possession is lost and Blues kick downfield.
Tom Price replaces Will Boyde and his first touch of the game, on the 50-minute mark, is to win the ball in the line out.
We have another opportunity to kick to the corner. It’s another attacking line out but Cardiff Blues come up on us quickly and push us back in-field.
On the hour mark Wyn Jones, Werner Kruger and Kieran Hardy replace Rob Evans, Samson Lee and Gareth Davies.
Cardiff Blues have a scrum inside our half, they get the ball away cleanly and centre Rey Lee-Lo finds his way through the defensive line and across the whitewash despite his opposite number’s attempt to bring him down. Anscombe adds the conversion.
As we enter the final ten minutes of play Gareth Anscombe pushes his side a further three points ahead as they’re awarded a penalty inside our 22.
With only five minutes on the clock the Scarlets are pressurising in Cardiff Blues’ 22. The ball is lost and the opposition boot it down field The Scarlets are back in possession and try and work their way back up field. A Hadleigh Parkes pass is intercepted by centre Rey Lee-Lo and he crosses the whitewash for his second of the evening. Conversion kicked by Anscombe.
78thminute and Ryan Elias has a thrown in at the line out inside Cardiff Blues territory, just shy of the ten metre line. The ball is gathered at the top of the line by Josh Helps, fed to Kieran Hardy who passes wide to Dan Jones. Anscombe reads the play well and Jones’ pass is intercepted and runs in a final try. He adds the conversion.
