Double Victory at Gloucester for U16 & U18

On a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon in Hartpury College, Gloucester, both U16 and U18 Scarlets’ teams were victorious in their friendly matches against the young Gloucester boys.

The previous day saw Welsh rugby glorified with a Grand Slam Six Nations win, this obviously gave our young boys the push that they needed to perform well on Sunday as both teams showed great determination, progress and drive to succeed.

First up on Sunday was the U16 boys which consisted of a full 31 man squad giving the combined squad of both East and West the opportunity to play and develop their game. The game was dominated by the Welsh side from the first whistle as a try was conceded within 60 seconds by back row, Ryan King which was later converted by Alex Wainwright. The squad went on to win a further 8 tries before the final whistle finishing the game off 59-12.

After a dominating victory by the U16’s, it was the U18 taking the pitch next. It was a different first half dynamic as the Scarlets only conceded one converted try from Dylan Evans and Jac Tregoning. The U18’s had a 25 man squad and all played at least half a game. It was a windy affair and the wind was not on the boys’ side during the first half. The Gloucester boys were leading at the beginning of the second half 7-12 but the boys in red managed to pull it back with another converted try from Iwan Millward and Jac Tregoning to secure their victory. The U18 boys stepped up well as several members of their original squad are away with other commitments with the Welsh U18 squad.
