Hughes to captain Scarlets A in final pool clash
Scarlets A take on Dragons A in the last round of the Celtic Cup before the final next weekend. The game will be held at Church Bank, Llandovery this Sunday 14th of October, kick-off 14:30.
Last week we saw the Scarlets A, sponsored by Juno Moneta Group, bring home a bonus point after their defeat against Munster A which placed them on top of their Pool with their rivals Ospreys A following just behind in second place with only one point difference.
Experienced Steff Hughes continues his captainship again this week giving the boys some direction and motivation as the competition nearly draws to a close. After his first XV start with the senior team two weeks ago against the Southern Kings and a wonderful try, Dan Davis takes his place in the forwards pack this week.
As the Celtic Cup draws to a close with the final in a weeks time, every minute of training counts. Here’s what head coach, Richard Kelly had to say after last week's’ clash against Munster A; “We were happy with the attitude and work ethic the boys had last week, looking at the game as a whole the discipline was the down fall with two yellow cards, but we have use these as a focus for this week improvement, hopefully we’ll see a different outcome.”
He went on so say; “I’m excited to see how Dan Davis will add an explosive presence in the back row, he’s played exceptionally well during pre-season and impressed a lot of people. I feel the Celtic Cup has been very beneficial for us as we had the opportunity for a week to week basis of high level intensity game time. The improvement we’ve seen from the boys is huge, and giving them challenges such as travelling across the water to play against other great teams has definitely been an asset. ”
