Scarlets A face a change of scenery as they travel to Belfast to battle it out with their first Irish team in the Celtic Cup, Ulster. The game will take place at Cooke RFC, this Friday 14th of September, KO 19:00.
After a disappointing start to the Cup losing to nearest rivals Ospreys A with only a few points different, were excited to see what the team can bring to the table as they face a new environment.
We saw hooker Marc Jones make his debut last week for the Scarlets, and his performance made an impression on the managers as he is picked in the first XV for this Friday’s match.
Looking ahead to tomorrow evening Head Coach Richard Kelly said; “We’re mainly looking to improve on those things that didn’t go so well in last week's match against the Ospreys. We’re hoping to see an increase in the level of performance from the boys, to see the team moving in the right direction.”
He went on to say; “The boys have been working on a balance in training the past week, to ensure that we continue to work on improving the main areas but also improving key skill development, which is what I feel the boys need to continue in order to improve their game.”
Steff Hughes will captain the side with Kelly going on to say; “Having an experienced player like Steff Hughes to captain the team is a huge boost for the boys. I hope they’ll be influenced by his positivity, he (Hughes) is such a great role model especially for some of the younger members of the squad.”
