As well as training hard to keep developing their game, members of the Scarlets Academy have taken part in a barista training course in association with Coleg Sir Gar and the WRPA (Welsh Rugby Players Association), where representatives from Coaltown Coffee Roastery took time out to train up the youngsters on how to produce some high-end coffee.

WRPA player development manager Nerys Henry said: ”We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Coaltown Coffee for welcoming a group of young Scarlets to their Roastery in Ammanford to learn the art of making a good coffee. The course was a part of the players’ personal development programme, organised by the WRPA in conjunction with Coleg Sir Gâr.

“After a few hours of learning about the origin of the coffee beans, the techniques and processes used to roast and make the coffee at Coaltown the boys had the opportunity to put their learnings into practice. The training resulted in some very impressive latte art and some fantastic teamwork.”
