Thomson named in Scotland squad

New Zealand born Blade Thomson has been named in Scotland’s squad for the forthcoming international series.

Thomson, 27, is one of three uncapped players named in Gregor Townsend’s 40-man squad for the 2018 Autumn Tests. He’s joined by Exeter Chiefs lock Sam Skinner and Glasgow Warriors centre Sam Johnson.

The Maori All Black qualifies for Scotland through his grandfather who hailed from Wishaw.

Scotland will face Wales on Saturday 3rdNovember at the Principality Stadium, a game that Thomson won’t be available for due to it falling outside the international window, before they return to BT Murrayfield for three home Tests against Fiji, South Africa and Argentina on the consecutive Saturdays that follow (10, 17 and 24 November).

Twelve Scarlets have also been named in Wales’ squad for the Autumn Series.
