Blade started his career with New Zealand provincial outfit Taranaki before graduating to the Hurricanes Super Rugby side. He was also part of the New Zealand U20s team that won the 2010 Junior World Championship. Joined the Scarlets in 2018 and made his competitive debut in the PRO14 opener against Ulster. Scottish-qualified, he made his international debut against France in the summer of 2019 and was a regular starter in Japan during the World Cup. An athletic carrier with slick off-loading skills, Blade offers options across the back five of the pack. Signed a new contract ahead of the 2021-22 season.
