Job Description

Scarlets rugby are seeking to employ a highly-skilled and motivated individual to deliver physiotherapy services to the first team squad. Ideally the individual will have between three-five years experience working within the elite sporting environment. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Working with the Lead Physiotherapist to ensure evidence-based physiotherapy provision to all senior squad Scarlets Rugby players at training and competition venues
  • The role will include physiotherapy provision at Scarlets Rugby including away travel throughout Europe and Worldwide
  • Assist the Lead Doctor and the Physiotherapy team at Scarlets Rugby in the assessment, treatment and maintenance of senior squad players 
  • Contribute to the long term player development strategy for Scarlets Rugby 
  • To work as part of the Scarlets Rugby Performance Team (Sports Medicine, Sport Science, S&C, Nutrition and other service providers) to maximise player health and performance
  • Assist the development and implementation of Scarlets Rugby injury prevention and performance enhancement strategies
  • Attend appointments and consultations with Scarlets Rugby senior squad players as deemed necessary
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking and practices to further enhance the medical provision at Scarlets Rugby, inclusive of rehabilitation to the ‘Return To Performance’ group 
  • Contribute to maintaining up to date medical information using online systems
  • Ensure appropriate and relevant information is shared with the Scarlets Rugby Performance / Management team on a regular basis 
  • Conduct regular audit and evaluation of the service delivery to the allocated positional group at Scarlets Rugby
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the Scarlets medical, management and performance teams regarding any physiotherapy matters, player injuries, player welfare or player performance
  • Create opportunities and ensure effective communication on a day to day basis with the Scarlets management team on matters concerning player health and performance 
  • Respect and understand the strict confidentiality measures employed by Scarlets Rugby
  • In collaboration with Scarlets Performance Team be accountable for the continued evaluation of players health and performance 
  • Provide effective leadership to junior members of staff / students to support their development as practitioners at Scarlets Rugby 
  • Maintain Chartered Society of Physiotherapy membership and Health Care Professions Council registration
  • In association with lead physiotherapist and lead doctor, assist with compliance to the Welsh Rugby Union Minimum Standards Criteria concerning physiotherapy staff and pitch side practitioners
  • Maintain and provide evidence of your sports physiotherapy knowledge and practice
