The Role:

Scarlets Rugby has an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to join their Performance Team. We are looking for a hard-working individual to make a positive impact to Scarlets Rugby. Showing ambition and commitment the successful candidate will become a valued member of the experienced medical team at Scarlets Rugby. You will be highly motivated and driven to ensure the highest standards of medical provision are consistently delivered.  Your continual drive for improvement will ensure the medical department at Scarlets Rugby is contributing to a high-performance culture, delivering the most effective service for its players.  

Being accountable to the Head of Medical Services, the role will be based at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli and include travel to matches worldwide. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As an autonomous practitioner within the medical team deliver highly specialist evidence-based physiotherapy provision to all Scarlets Rugby players
  • Demonstrate leadership as part of the Scarlets Rugby Performance Team (Sports Medicine, Sport Science, S&C, Nutrition and other service providers) to maximise player availability and optimise the return of injured players to performance
  • Demonstrate leadership in the design and evaluation of the injury prevention strategy of Scarlets Rugby, including carrying out musculoskeletal screening and injury prevention profiling
  • Provide highly specialist medical provision at Scarlets Rugby training and matches worldwide
  • Through innovation and collaboration work closely with Coaches and Performance staff to maximise player availability and wellbeing
  • Be accountable by professional regulatory standards in relation to note keeping, confidentiality and ethical practice
  • Assist and where directed lead in aspects of clinical governance 
  • Demonstrate leadership in service development, research and innovation
  • Attend appointments and consultations with Scarlets Rugby players as deemed necessary
  • Promote fair play and adherence to UK Anti-Doping rules to all Scarlets Rugby players and staff
  • Respect the organisation while complying with organisational and professional body codes of conduct at all times

Key Attributes

Essential:

  • Member of CSP and HCPC physiotherapy registration
  • Proven experience in high performance sport
  • Proven ability to work with contact team sport athletes
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to contribute positively to on-field performance
  • Level 3 Immediate Care In Sport Qualification
  • A commitment to continued professional development

Desirable:

  • MSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • Experience of leading the delivery of medical services
  • Experience in working with Olympic or professional athletes across a range of sports
  • Evidence of a willingness to contribute to research
