Nigel Davies reflected on a job well done as Scarlets returned to winning ways with a resounding bonus-point victory over Zebre Parma at Parc y Scarlets.
The West Walians ran in six tries, putting the game to bed with a dominant first-half display that delighted the club’s interim director of rugby.
“The first half was very pleasing. We planned not to give them any ins, our set piece was excellent, our scrum and line-out gave us a good platform to play off and we managed the game very well,” said Davies, speaking to the media post match.
“Zebre have been competitive all season and they will keep on coming at you which they did. We talked at half-time that we needed to make sure we kept the momentum going, but we dropped off the standards we set in the first half.
“I am really pleased for the boys, we were clinical, we were clear in terms of what we wanted to do and we delivered a performance out there.”

Centre Macs Page scored one try and could have had another, only for a stunning individual effort to be chalked off following a TMO intervention; Carwyn Leggatt-Jones also again looked comfortable in the No. 10 jersey.
Davies added: “The club has always had a tradition of bringing through young talent and there are a few more I would like to see before the end of the season. I am excited about the talent we have here. When we can get our full team on the field and can drip feed these youngsters into the side, it will be great for them. It is fantastic to see those young boys finding their feet and playing like that.”
Scarlets must now focus on a round 14 trip to Dublin and a clash with defending champions Leinster at the Aviva Stadium on Friday night.
“We are looking at that game as an international,” admitted Davies. “The boys deserve a lot of credit for what they are doing and deserve to enjoy this win, but we have told them we are going to play an international rugby game so we need to get into that mindset. It is a huge challenge for us, but we have a capable bunch of players who can go there and put a big performance in and who knows?”
