Scarlets Rugby is inviting the club’s former players to contribute to a definitive online roll of honour on its official website, celebrating over 150 years of heritage and every player to wear the iconic jersey.

The former players listing online aims to ensure every men’s and women’s player who has represented the Scarlets throughout its illustrious rugby history is included, from the club’s earliest days through to the modern era.

Founded in 1872 as Llanelli RFC, the Scarlets is one of the oldest and most storied clubs in Welsh rugby, synonymous with passion, pride and a distinctive attacking style that has influenced the global game. From famous victories including the defeat of the All Blacks in 1972 – to producing generations of international stars, the club’s legacy is woven into the fabric of Welsh rugby.

The register aims to capture that legacy in full, listing every player who has represented the club across its 5,000-plus matches spanning a century and a half of competition.

Launching next season, Scarlets will honour every player with a unique number and commemorative certificate — recognising their place in a legacy that has produced more than 200 Welsh internationals and shaped the national game.

The club is now calling on former players, their families and supporters to review the list and ensure no name is missing from this roll of honour which will be launched at the first home game of the season in September 2026.

Rupert Moon, Heritage Director on the Scarlets Board, said: “This new project helps our club update public recognition of every player who has contributed to one of the most iconic rugby stories in the world in both the men’s and women’s game. From the early days at Stradey Park to today at Parc y Scarlets, we want to celebrate the generations of players have helped build a club that represents the heart and soul of West Wales rugby with a new roll of honour.

“The Scarlets story is unique – we have stood the test of time, staying true to our roots while competing at the highest level. This register is a vital part of preserving that history, and we want to make sure every player who has pulled on the scarlet jersey is properly recognised.

“Assigning a unique Scarlets player number and presenting our former players with a certificate is a small but meaningful way of saying thank you and ensure every mark that has been made from generations of players is formally recognised.  We now need the support of our community to ensure the list is complete and that no contribution is forgotten.”

The project forms part of a wider commitment to celebrate the Scarlets’ heritage publicly with new honours boards launched at the start of the 2026-2027 season which will be proudly displayed in the Lolfa Lounge at Parc y Scarlets along with memorabilia from the club’s historical highlights including showcasing modern-day stars who continue to represent the rugby heartland of West Wales.

Supporters and former players are encouraged to visit the club website to view the listing and submit any additions or corrections.
