Two more of the Scarlets’ Senior Academy made their United Rugby Championship debuts on Boxing Day.
Prop Josh Morse and fly-half Elis Price came off the bench in the second half as Scarlets slipped to defeat at the hands of the Ospreys.
Loose-head Josh has been in powerful form for Llandovery this season after recovering from a long-term knee issue, while Elis has been pulling the strings for an impressive Carmarthen Quins outfit.
The Drovers and Quins locked horns themselves on Boxing Day with the men from Carmarthen completing the double in the Tywi Valley derby, winning 22-12.
There was a host of Academy players on show with wing Callum Woolley – with his sixth try in three games – and centre Gabe McDonald crossing for the Quins. Wales U18s fly-half Carwyn Leggatt-Jones, who made a crucial length-of-the-field interception for Woolley’s try, added seven points from the boot.
Wing Iori Badham and scrum-half Rhodri Lewis also started for the Quins, with Osian Williams a replacement along with senior squad member Ben Williams.
For the Drovers, back-rower Dom Kossuth made his return from a knee injury as a second-half replacement, while there was another run-out for fit-again second row Will Evans.
Full-back Jac Davies, back-rowers Tiaan Sparrow and Dan Gemine and tight-head Gabe Hawley started for Llandovery with props Tom Phillips and Jac Pritchard entering the fray as subs.
SRC action continues on Saturday with the Quins facing a tough trip to Newport (14:30), while Llandovery host table-toppers Ebbw Vale at Church Bank (17:15)
