While the senior side celebrated a morale-boosting victory over the Azzurri in Cardiff, there was double disappointment for Wales U18s and U20s against their Italian counterparts.

On Saturday afternoon, a Wales U18s side containing five Scarlets were beaten 19-10 by Italy at Ystrad Mynach. Tenby scrum-half Alfie Luger (pictured) started for Wales, with his club half-back partner Madoc Evans, hooker Cole Lacey, lock Harvey Thomas and flanker Jac Cloke among the replacements.

At a rain-swept Rodney Parade, Wales U20s slipped to a 20-13 loss in their Championship finale. Academy back-rower Dom Kossuth (pictured below) started strongly only to leave the field midway through the first half. Prop Jac Pritchard, as he as done through the Six Nations, started in the No. 3 jersey, while flanker Osian Williams and fly-half Steff Jac Jones came on in the second period but were unable to prevent the visitors claiming a deserved win.

In Colwyn Bay, Scarlets U16s went down to a 38-31 defeat to RGC.

In blustery conditions, Scarlets raced into a 24-5 lead at half-time thanks to tries from skipper Charlie Eatly, hooker Cody Bates, fly-half Gwiliwyn WIlliams and wing Josh Morris. Full-back Rhys James kicked two conversions.

However, with the wind at their backs, the North Walians produced a storming second half comeback to claim the victory. Flanker Owen Hoyles scored Scarlets’ only try of the second period.
