Scarlets has announced its continued support for the Wish Fund – a heartfelt campaign run by Hywel Dda Health Charities which funds joyful experiences for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families.

Since its launch in spring 2022, the Wish Fund has raised £40,000, enabling Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Paediatric Palliative Care team to deliver memorable moments for families across mid and west Wales. These have included special outings to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Urdd Llangrannog, and festive visits to the Celtic Manor.

Families have also been welcomed to Scarlets matches free of charge, with a dedicated Wish Fund information stand regularly present at home games to raise awareness of the campaign.

Rachel Brown, Paediatric Palliative Care Play Specialist, said: “We’re thrilled to have the continued support of the Scarlets for our Wish Fund campaign. This support helps us go beyond what the NHS can provide, offering therapeutic play resources, wellbeing packs for siblings, and group activities that bring families together.

“These experiences help us build lasting memories and moments of joy during difficult times.”

Scarlets player Josh Macleod added: “It’s an honour to be involved in the Wish Fund initiative. We hope our support can bring smiles and unforgettable experiences to families across the region.

“We want to inspire others to get involved and help us spread a little happiness where it’s needed most.”
