Scarlets proud to support Help for Heroes #40ThousandStrong campaign

Rob Lloyd News

With services taking place across the country this weekend as part of the Remembrance Day commemorations, the Scarlets are paying tribute to our armed forces during Saturday’s Guinness PRO14 match against Benetton

We will be remembering the sacrifices made by those who served in conflict and also helping raise funds for some fantastic charities.

Help for Heroes will be here with a special model installation as part of their #40ThousandStrong campaign, which is aimed at highlighting the true scale of those who have their lives on the line and raising funds to provide support to wounded veterans. The Royal British Legion will also be in attendance.

There will be a military vehicle display, including the Challenger 2 tank, which will be outside the Juno Moneta Arena. Inside the arena will be an inflatable assault course, while weather-permitting, there will be a climbing wall for the younger Scarlets fans.

Before kick-off, Scarlets representatives will be signing the armed forces covenant in the Quinnell Lounge, where there will also be guest speakers representing the Help for Heroes charity. Veterans will be joining our pre-match parade and there will be a minute’s silence followed by The Last Post to remember the fallen.

On Sunday, at the annual Remembrance Day service at Llanelli Cenotaph, our head coach Brad Mooar will be laying a wreath on behalf of the Scarlets. Former players and club representatives will also be taking part in the service.

Scarlets venue general manager Carrie Gillam said: “We are delighted to welcome the armed forces to the stadium. It is so important that we remember the people from our local communities that made the ultimate sacrifice for us and support those that are currently serving, will serve in the future and have retired.

“As well as an exciting game of rugby, we have some fantastic activities for all the family, topped off by the Challenger tank brought in especially for us.”
