Josh Macleod has rocketed up to second in the race to be the United Rugby Championship’s turnover king this season.

The Scarlets skipper claimed four turnovers in Friday’s clash with Edinburgh, which moves him alongside team-mate Marnus van der Merwe, Zebre’s Samuele Locatelli and Edinburgh’s Liam McConnell in the charts.

Jeandre Rudolph of the Vodacom Bulls leads the way with 16.

With Jarrod Taylor (8) also in the top 20, no team has won more turnovers than the Scarlets (86) in the competition this season.

Macleod is a previous winner of the league’s official award – back in 2019-20 when he topped the chart with 23 turnovers.

James ‘Cubby’ Davies, now part of the Scarlets management team, is also a former winner, having notched up a record high off 33 turnovers during the title-winning campaign of 2016-17.

Elsewhere in the URC stats charts, Fletcher Anderson, who only arrived in West Wales in November, sits ninth for the amount of carries made (109). Cardiff No. 8 Alun Lawrence is the man to catch with 184.

Across the round 12 fixtures, Joe Roberts was the sixth highest for defenders beaten (6), fly-half Carwyn Leggatt-Jones topped try assists with two, while Max Douglas was second in line-out steals (2), taking him joint third overall in the competition. Scrum-half Gareth Davies sits fifth for retained kicks in play (18).
