Scarlets hooker Marnus van der Merwe has been included in a group of 54 players to attend the Springboks’ second alignment camps this month.
The former Cheetahs forward has enjoyed an outstanding first season in West Wales and is one of five players nominated for the Supporters’ Player of the Season.
The camps will take place in person in Cape Town for South African-based players, and virtually for players like Marnus who are based outside South Africa, on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23 respectively.
Marnus is one of eight uncapped players named.
The camp will include a series of boardroom sessions over the two days as the Boks gear up for the international season, which kicks off on Saturday, June 28 with the first-ever home game between the Springboks and Barbarians.
This will be followed by the Castle Lager Incoming Series, the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, and the traditional end-of-the-year tour in November.
