Marnus van der Merwe is set to become the 261st player to represent the Scarlets in Test rugby after the hooker was selected in the Springboks side to take on Georgia in Nelspruit on Saturday.

Marnus is part of an uncapped front row named by Rassie Erasmus alongside Edinburgh’s Boan Venter and Neethling Fouche of the DHL Stormers.

The 28-year-old, who was named Scarlets Supporters Player of the Season in his debut campaign for the club, featured for the Boks off the bench in the 54-7 win over the Barbarians in an uncapped match last month.
