Scarlets Senior Academy players Thomas Williams and Isaac Young touched down for tries as Carmarthen Quins moved into second spot in the Super Rygbi Cymru standings with a 28-19 victory over Aberavon.
After making a superb try-saving tackle at one end, flying wing Williams raced over unopposed for his side’s second against the Wizards, while hooker Young touched down for the bonus-point score on the back of a driving maul. To cap an impressive win at the Talbot Athletic, Academy fly-half Elis Price added to his season’s points tally with four conversions from four.
Wing Iori Badham, scrum-half Rhodri Lewis and replacements Gabe McDonald and Callum Woolley also featured for the Quins, along with senior back-rower Ben Williams, who came off the bench against his former club.
Elsewhere, prop Tom Phillips and lock Sam Williams were part of the Llanelli Wanderers pack that started in their WRU Premiership defeat to Pontypridd at Sardis Road, while prop Jac Pritchard was a sub for Narberth in the Otters’ 20-13 home loss to Ystrad Rhondda.
In Championship West, Steff Jac Jones started at fly-half for Aberystwyth, landing 12 points from the tee in their 32-29 victory at Glynneath; hooker Keanu Evans featured for Ammanford, who went down 19-10 to Gowerton and in division one west, second row Kai Jones had a run-out for his home club Lampeter.
