Brython Thunder will make history when they play their first home game in the new expanded Celtic Challenge against Edinburgh Rugby at Parc y Scarlets, on Sunday. (KO: 1:30pm).

Alex Callender will captain the side for a third time; Wales rugby legend Sioned Harries returns to the side at No. 8, Shona Wakely moves to lock, while Finley Jones gets the nod at flanker.

Natalia John, who has returned to action after a lengthy injury lay-off, continues in the Thunder engine room, while Meg Davies returns at scrum-half and will partner fly-half Niamh Terry at half back.

Meg Webb is selected at centre alongside Ellie Tromans in an exciting midfield combination to face an Edinburgh side a place above them in the Celtic Challenge table after the first two rounds of the new cross-border tournament between sides from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Ashley Beck, Brython Thunder head coach, said: “We are excited to play our first home game in the tournament and are looking forward to the challenge of Edinburgh on Sunday at Parc y Scarlets. We are a new team, full of exciting and experienced players and are learning more about each other and growing as a team.”
