Gareth Davies’s two tries against Zebre Parma on Friday night took him to 50 career tries in the URC.

The Scarlets scrum-half is now joint sixth with Andrew Trimble on the all-time list with only team-mate Steff Evans (54), Tim Visser (58), DTH van der Merwe (58), Craig Gilroy (59) and Tommy Bowe (67) above him.

Davies is the highest scoring scrum-half in competition – Rhys Webb has 42 – and the only player outside of the back three in the top 10 chart.

The 33-year-old’s first-half double at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi took him to seven tries for the season and earned him the player of the match medal. He now has 66 tries to his name in his Scarlets career.

“It was good to get the win, we have had a tough season so hopefully this will give us some momentum going into the final game against the Dragons on Judgement Day,” said Davies after the game.

“We knew Zebre were going to come out all guns blazing and they did challenge us early, but we got together, managed the game well and scored some nice tries.”
