Joe Roberts admits emotions will be high as Scarlets and Ospreys lock horns for the second time in eight days on Sunday evening (17:30 S4C).
The West Wales derby Part I went the way of the West Walians, with the Scarlets running out 38-22 winners in Llanelli last weekend.
Now Part II sees the two rivals meet in Swansea in the round of 16 of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
“Obviously, the boys have taken a lot of confidence from last weekend’s game and performance – putting aside the first 20 minutes,” said Roberts, who crossed for one of his side’s six tries.
“We know there is going to be a bit of emotion behind them, they will come with a lot of energy and will be hurting after what happened last weekend.
“But nothing changes from our perspective. Our focus is the same as last weekend.
“It is about being clinical in the big moments. That performance for the last 60 was the benchmark for us.”
Both sides are not only scrapping in the knockout stages of the Challenge Cup, but also pushing for a top-eight play-off spot in the BKT URC with only four rounds of the regular season remaining.
“Every game from now on is pretty much a must-win, there are some big games ahead,” added Roberts.
“Knockout rugby is something we pride ourselves on at the Scarlets. We have a strong history in European competition.”
Roberts will once again partner Eddie James in midfield – an exciting, young combination for the future.
“It is good to be a part of this backline,” he added. “We have players who can do special things and it’s exciting to be part of it.
“Me and Eddie haven’t played a huge amount together with my injuries, the more we play together, hopefully the more the partnership will grow and the better the connection gets. We have got more in us and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.
“There is loads of competition in training across the backline. Everyone is champing at the bit to play. That is what every squad needs, the depth and competition to drive everyone to be better.”
