Scarlets Rugby can confirm that South African back-rower Jarrod Taylor has left the club at the conclusion of his contract.

The 25-year-old played 44 matches in a Scarlets jersey, making his debut against Munster in February 2024 after arriving in Llanelli mid-season from the DHL Stormers.

A popular member of the squad, Jarrod leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Scarlets for the next chapter of his rugby career.

He has made a significant contribution both on and off the field, earning the respect of teammates, coaches and supporters through his performances, professionalism and commitment to the jersey.

Interim Director of Rugby Nigel Davies paid tribute to Taylor’s contribution and the manner in which he has represented the club.

Jarrod has been a pleasure to work with from the day I arrived. He is an outstanding professional who prepares well, trains hard and consistently puts the team first.

Sometimes in professional rugby difficult decisions have to be made around squad balance and how you utilise the resources and overseas positions available to you. Unfortunately, that has been the case here.

Jarrod has made a genuine contribution to our rugby environment and has always represented the Scarlets in the right way.

“He is the type of player every coach enjoys working with. He asks questions, wants to improve, cares deeply about the team and gives everything he has every day.”

“On behalf of everyone at the Scarlets, we’d like to thank Jarrod for everything he has given to the club and wish him and his family every success for the future.”

Jarrod Taylor said: “I’m very grateful for my time at Scarlets and I’ll always look back on my two and a half years at the club with fond memories. Thank you to everyone who made me feel welcome and good luck to the boys for the future.”
