Scarlets launched their pre-season campaign with a hugely encouraging six-try 36-15 win over English PREM opposition Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park.
Trailing 10-0 early on, the West Walians proceeded to turn on the style, particularly in a dominant second half where they ripped the home defence to shreds.
Macs Page, who started on the wing, then moved to centre, dazzled throughout, scoring two tries and causing menace throughout.
Joe Roberts was another to stand out behind the scrum, crossing twice, while co-centre Gabe McDonald scored his first Scarlets try, as well as landing three conversions.
Inevitably in a first pre-season outing there was some rust to shake off, but Nigel Davies and his coaching will be more than happy by the amount of try-scoring chances the Scarlets created.
Defensively, they soaked up what the Chiefs threw at them, while also standing firm at set-piece time.
There were also senior debuts for John McKee, Gabe Cahsay, Isaac Murray-Macgregor, Dom Kossuth and 17-year-old Tenby fly-half Madoc Evans.
Scarlets made a late change to their starting line-up with Ioan Nicholas coming in at fly-half and Murray-Macgregor stepping in for his debut at full-back.
Unfortunately for the new signing, his first start was interrupted by an early yellow card for a deliberate knock-on and the Chiefs took full advantage with a try from a line-out drive.
It was a case of rinse and repeat moments later with the set-piece earning the home side a second score to make it 10-0. But that was as good as it got for the Chiefs.
A stepping counter-attack from Murray-Macgregor gave a glimpse of what was to come as the Scarlets grew into the game in the second quarter.
And they were rewarded with a well-worked try on the half-hour mark through the outstanding Page.
The hard yards were made up front with flanker Tristan Davies and prop Josh Morse to the fore; Wales international centre Joe Roberts then made the crucial break before feeding his winger for a free run to the line. McDonald added the extras.
Dane Blacker almost sniped his way to the line and Scarlets went close again from a couple of tap penalties before their pressure was rewarded with a try from Roberts, who showed good strength to cross and touch down on the stroke of half-time. McDonald’s second successful conversion made it 14-10 to the visitors at the break.
Despite making nine changes to the side during the interval, the Scarlets picked up where they left off at the start of the second half with a well-crafted try for McDonald, who stepped over out wide.
Page carved open the Exeter defence only for the Pembrokeshire speedster to be pulled back for crossing, then almost found his way through for another only to be scragged by the jersey as he looked to burst clear.
However, he wasn’t to be denied, grabbing his own chip over the top to dab down in front of the travelling support.
It got better quickly as Roberts entered to fray again to finish off a length-of-the-field move from the restart, then Dan Davis gave Exeter a taste of their own medicine, touching down from a line-out drive.
Exeter did respond with a late third try from another line-out rumble, but it was the Scarlets who were deserved winners, setting the bar for their next two pre-season outings against the Dragons and Saracens, before the URC opener against Cardiff.
