Scarlets skills camp proves a huge hit with budding stars

A group of budding Scarlets were treated to a rugby camp with a difference this week.

More than 50 youngsters aged between 11 and 14 spent the day at Parc y Scarlets where they enjoyed skills sessions and a gym workout before stepping out onto the main pitch for a game.

“Despite the weather, it was a great day and brilliant to see so many smiles on the faces of the boys as they walked in the footsteps of the Scarlets,” said Scarlets community co-ordinator Chris Jones.

“We had skills sessions taken by our community coaches, then time in the gym under the supervision of a qualified strength and conditioning coach which focused on the fundamental movements within rugby, something which will only benefit the players as they move forward.

“After that, we had an hour out on the main pitch where they put their skills to good use with matches within their age groups.”

Dates and venues for the Scarlets summer camps will be announced soon so keep an eye on our website and social media channels over the coming weeks.
