A much-changed Scarlets U17s play their second game in four days when they take on Dragons RFC at New Dock Stars RFC on Sunday (14:30 ko).

There were plenty of positives on show in the narrow 26-19 loss to the Ospreys on Wednesday evening and the coaching team have now given opportunities to a number of fresh faces for the clash with the Gwent outfit.

Penybanc RFC second row Rhys Owen is handed the captaincy.

Head coach Alun Jones said:  “We enjoyed a great battle with a very physical and clinical Ospreys team on Wednesday night.

“We created a lot of opportunities but weren’t quite able to turn our second-half pressure into points and ended up on the wrong side of the scoreline.

“However, we were really pleased that so many players had an opportunity to perform and were exposed to the highest standard of regional age-grade rugby.

“This game is another opportunity for our group to go out there and express themselves on the field.

“Some players have a chance to put things right from Wednesday and we have a number of new faces in the match-day squad too, which is a real positive.

“We’re looking forward to a great game against a tough and dangerous Dragons outfit to bring this 17s block to a close.”
