Scott to skipper youthful Scarlets against Chiefs

Wales international Scott Williams will captain a youthful Scarlets side in Saturday’s Anglo-Welsh friendly against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park (14:30).

The 33-year-old 58-cap centre will partner 19-year-old Gabe McDonald from Burry Port in the Scarlets midfield. McDonald, a member of the Wales U20s Six Nations squad and Scarlets Senior Academy, is set to make his senior debut in the West Country.

In the back three Jac Davies, who has been impressive for Llandovery in the Indigo Premiership this season, starts at 15. Tomi Lewis and Ryan Conbeer are named on the wings. Efan Jones links up with Charlie Titcombe at half-back.

In the front row, Joe Jones provides the experience alongside 22-year-old loose-head prop Sam O’Connor and 20-year-old hooker Lewis Morgan.

Former Wales U20s partners Morgan Jones and Jac Price reunite in the second row, while the back row is formed of Llandovery’s Osian Davies, openside Luca Giannini and No. 8 Carwyn Tuipuotu, who makes his return from injury.

Scarlets have named 12 players as replacements with hooker Jordan Liney (RGC), prop Jamie Hughes (Llandovery), back-rower Will Plessis (Scarlets Academy), fly-half Iwan Price Thomas (Bath University) and Scarlets U18s full-back Iori Badham (Scarlets Academy) set to make their senior Scarlets debuts.

There is also a welcome return from injury for centre Eddie James and back-rower Iwan Shenton.
