Second row Sam Lousi and scrum-half Kieran Hardy have linked up with the Scarlets squad for their opening United Rugby Championship matches in South Africa.

Lousi featured for Tonga during the Rugby World Cup pool stages, while Hardy was flown over to France ahead of Wales’s quarter-final as injury cover.

A 28-man squad left Parc y Scarlets on Tuesday afternoon to fly out for the round one match against the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria on Sunday.

Fly-half Dan Jones and wing Steff Evans are absent because of hamstring injuries, while Wales international forwards Samson Lee and Ken Owens continue on the rehab trail.

Vaea Fifita is suspended following the red card he received playing for Tonga at the World Cup.
