The openside, a summer arrival from Loughborough University, has turned in a series of impressive performances in the No. 7 jersey, going toe to toe with former world player of the year Josh van der Flier in Dublin and topping the tackle count (23) against the Ospreys.
Leatherbarrow beat fly-half Ioan Lloyd in the voting with Gareth Davies, Vaea Fifita and Ryan Elias the other nominees.
