LIFELONG Scarlets supporter John Davies from Llanelli was the first to assemble at the ticket office this morning and grab his new Scarlets season ticket for 2025/26.
Aberdare born John, a former civil servant, now retired said of being a Scarlets supporter: “It’s in the blood – it just gets you being part of this club and the bonds you make last through time, it’s a shared journey. When I retired at 55, my home had to be in Llanelli because of Scarlets rugby and the fact my family are all from Carmarthenshire.
His favourite Scarlets player of all time? “Well it has to be Stephen Jones – what an ambassador he’s been for our club and the best coach has to be Carwyn James.”
John added that being part of the Scarlets family has been a huge support to him after losing his wife Mary two years ago. She was also a passionate Scarlets fan and some of their fondest memories were at home and away games together. “Scarlets is about much more than just coming along to cheer at home games. For me it’s about being part of a community, with great friendships that have stood the test of time. Friendships made at Scarlets are for life.
“I hope we can have a good finish this season – but most important of all that we beat the Ospreys home and away in the back-to-back derby games coming up soon!”
John and his late wife Mary were members of the Scarlets choir from 2007 singing on the terraces at Stradey and then onto Parc y Scarlets. They both enjoyed the big victory in Dublin when Scarlets won the PRO12 in 2017.
Diolch John for your continued support throughout the years.
