Vaea storms to Castore player of month award

Vaea Fifita has been rewarded for his storming form by topping the vote for the Castore Scarlets Supporters Player of the Month for February/March.

Fifita has produced some stellar performances at the heart of the Scarlets pack, delivering a highlights reel that any forward in world rugby would be proud of.

Those include 50-metre plus tries against Edinburgh (he also shipped one on to Gareth Davies), Munster and a stunning solo effort in last weekend’s Challenge Cup win over Brive at Parc y Scarlets.

Fifita, polled 42% of the voting to see off the challenge of Sam Costelow, Johnny Williams, Steff Evans and Josh Macleod for the award, which was voted on by fans online.

Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel said: “Vaea’s been outstanding for us and keeps producing world-class moments. When you get to the knockout stages in tournaments it’s about magic moments and he produced that against Brive, he was the only player on the field who could have done that. That is why you bring in players like Vaea, for moments like that.”

Fifita follows Sione Kalamafoni, Dane Blacker and Dan Davis as a monthly award winner.
