Head coach Dwayne Peel admitted he felt his side should have come away with victory at Rodney Parade after missing late opportunities.
The Scarlets were beaten 13-12 in atrocious conditions, leaving Peel to rue another match that got away.
“We felt we should have won, we put ourselves in a position to win the game,” he said.
“We put a lot of pressure in their 22 in the second half. The TMO deemed no try, but from where I was sitting it looked like Vaea got over, so I was disappointed with that call. Then, obviously there was the missed kick after it. It’s a tough one to take.
“We have to stay tight, work hard and we have a couple of weeks to recoup and try to get better before we go to Clermont.
“The last two weeks we should have won. We didn’t convert pressure into points in that first half against the Ospreys and again we left points out there, we have to finish off when we get opportunities.”
