Marnus, Blair and Josh take accolades at Scarlets awards evening

Marnus van der Merwe, Blair Murray and Josh Macleod were the main winners at the Scarlets’ 2024-25 awards evening held at Parc y Scarlets.

Players, guests, staff and sponsors were among an audience of 200 who attended the black tie event in the Quinnell Lounge.

After an outstanding debut campaign in Llanelli, Marnus was voted the Dyfed Steels Supporters’ Player of the Season, receiving 39% percent of the votes.

Blair is another who has had a superb first season in west Wales and he received the Gavin Griffiths Group Players’ Player of the Season Award.

The Coaches Player of the Season, sponsored by Cawdor Cars, went to skipper Josh Macleod.

Macs Page capped a memorable week that saw him earn his first Wales squad call-up by receiving the Purus Try of the Season award for his brilliant solo effort in the home win over Zebre.

The Castell Howell Coaches’ Breakthrough Player of the Season was awarded to wing Ellis Mee, who arrived from English Championship side Nottingham in the summer and went on to make his Test debut for Wales during the 2025 Six Nations.

There were special mentions for Gareth Davies, who reached the 250-appearance milestone in the home game against Cardiff and Ioan Nicholas who joined the 100 club in Bayonne.

Head coach Dwayne Peel also said his thanks to the players leaving the club this summer – Ed Scragg, Charlie Titcombe, Efan Jones, Alex Craig, Ioan Lloyd, Morgan Jones, Shaun Evans and finally, Steff Evans, who has made 190 appearances for the Scarlets over 11 seasons, scoring a remarkable 74 tries.
