The Scarlets have teamed up with Felinfoel Brewery, Wales’ oldest brewery and the oldest canners of craft beer, to produce a limited edition ale to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary.

Felinfoel was founded in 1878, six years after Llanelli RFC was formed, and continues to brew on the same site to this day.

Felinfoel Brewery and Scarlets share an intertwined history that can be traced back to the early days and immortalised in Max Boyce’s song 9-3, which celebrates the 1972 win over New Zealand when “beer flowed at Stradey, piped down from Felinfoel”.

Jeremy Lewis, Director and sixth generation brewer at Felinfoel Brewery said: “It’s a huge honour to play a small part in Scarlets’ 150th anniversary. From the industrial days of the late 19th century to the modern day, the club and the brewery have been an ever-present part of the town and we’re delighted to be able to share this fantastic collaboration with the supporters.”

Scarlets Head of Marketing and Technology Trudy Waters said: “The Scarlets and Felinfoel are two iconic Welsh brands with a proud history. It is wonderful to be linking up with Felinfoel Brewery to help toast our 150th anniversary with this commemorative beer.”

The limited edition IPA will be available at Parc y Scarlets for Friday’s match against  Leinster in the United Rugby Championship. It is also available to purchase from Felinfoel Brewery shop and website, while stocks last.
