Scarlets have continued their commitment to long-term environmental sustainability by teaming up with renewable energy consultants First Choice Utilities.
First Choice Utilities are an independent renewable consultancy who operate throughout the UK.
They will help the Scarlets in their plans to reduce energy use and for investment in improved facilities at the stadium, including more charging stations for electric vehicles.
First Choice Utilities will also become the front-of-shirt sponsors for our Scarlets women’s teams for the new season.
Phillip Morgan, Scarlets Chief Operating Officer, said: “As a business we are very mindful of the environmental impact a stadium such as Parc y Scarlets will have. We are excited to partner with First Choice Utilities because part of what they are bringing to the Scarlets is securing carbon neutral energy supplies that are going to allow us to invest in an electric vehicle charging facility. We already have three stations here and we have plans to expand that by a further 12 charging stations.
“Going back as far as 2013-14 we invested heavily in installing, at the time, one of the largest solar panel roof installations in Wales; we also converted all our high-use lighting to LED. All the pitch watering is done via bore holes, not from the main water supply and one of the big areas we identified was trying to remove single-use plastic from the business. We recognised we were using some 150,000 single-use plastic glasses on our match-days so we converted that to our Eco-cups which reduced our waste massively.”

We want to help the Scarlets reduce how much they use in terms of energy consumption, providing reductions in CO2 and spends, as well as any advice that is needed off the pitch in terms of energy.
