Gareth Davies returns for 19th pre-season

Rob LloydNews

Scrum-half Gareth Davies was back at Parc y Scarlets for his 19th pre-season with the club as the bulk of the squad returned for training this week.

The Wales & British & Irish Lions half-back has enjoyed an incredible career in west Wales, playing 282 matches and becoming the leading Welsh try-scorer in URC history.

Davies, who made his Scarlets debut in March 2009, turns 36 in August, but there was no signs of him slowing down as he was put through his paces with many of our up-and-coming academy players, some 18 years his junior.

New faces who met up on Monday included Isaac Murray-Macgregor, Corey Domachowski, George Roberts, Alex Groves and our new Lead Forwards Coach Aaron Dundon. Others will link up in the coming weeks, while our latest signing, All Black Cullen Grace, will arrive in Llanelli at the end of New Zealand’s provincial championship in October.

Keep an eye on our social media channels for training updates during the week, including images of the eye-catching new training wear from VX3.

Scarlets kick-off their 2026-27 BKT United Rugby Championship campaign with a Welsh derby against Cardiff at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday, September 26.
