Mixed bag for U18 sides

It was a mixed day of results for the men’s and women’s U18s sides in their regional championship campaigns.

Against the Ospreys at Ysgol Cwm Brombil in Margam, the men’s team led 10-5 at half-time thanks to tries from prop Luke Tucker and back-rower Will Plessis.

But the home side, leading the way at top of the U18s standings, dominated the second period to run out 34-10 winners.

At The Gnoll, the women’s U18s were taking part in the fourth round of their series of fixtures and enjoyed a tight tussle against RGC.

Centre Carys Hughes (pictured) crossed for the Scarlets’ lone try as the spoils were shared 5-5.

Best wishes and speedy recovery to the RGC player who suffered a serious knee during the game.

The men’s U18s are back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Dragons at Ystrad Mynach (7.15pm ko). The women’s side are at the same venue on February 19, when they take on Cardiff Rugby (1pm ko) in their final match.
