Scarlets Community Foundation have been out and about across the region over the Easter holidays, delivering a wide range of engaging, inclusive and impactful activities in our communities.

Through a combination of rugby camps, multi-sport provision and community engagement events, the Foundation successfully collaborated with key partners to support children, young people, and families – particularly in areas of deprivation.

More than 350 children attended camps, while the Foundation also had a presence at a number of events and fun days.

We delivered three Scarlets Camps during the Easter holidays:

  • Parc y Scarlets
  • Aberystwyth RFC
  • Nantgaredig RFC

A total of 150 children attended across the three locations, benefiting from high-quality rugby coaching, skill development and positive engagement with Scarlets values. Scarlets players Eddie James and Carwyn Leggatt-Jones also popped in to sign autographs and pass on their skills at Nantgaredig.

In collaboration with local authority partners and external organisations, we delivered nine Fit, Fed & Fun Camps across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, targeting areas of deprivation with 214 attending in all.

The camps were delivered in partnership with:

  • Local Authority Active teams (Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire)
  • Welsh Boxing
  • Road Safety Carmarthenshire
  • Cricket Wales
  • Fishguard & Goodwick Hockey
  • Volunteer basketball coaches

A key element of the programme was making sure the children had access to nutritious meals so they were fit, fed and ready to engage. Breakfast and lunch in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion was provided by Lean Kitchen, while Local Authority school chefs catered for our event in Pembrokeshire.

In terms of Community Engagement events, we were part of the fun at the Easter Eggstravaganza at Llwynhendy Community Centre in partnership with Our Llwynhendy. The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with local families, strengthening community relationships and promoting Scarlets Community Foundation activities.

We also had Foundation officers at the Family Fun Day at Ffos Las Racecourse.

Scarlets Community Foundation Manager Paul Fisher said: “It’s been a busy few weeks for the team and it was fantastic to be able to get out across the region and see so many children and families engaged with rugby and the Scarlets.

“A big thanks to all the local authorities and external partners that helped us enhance our community’s access to sport, nutrition and wellbeing support.”
