The Scarlets squad clock in for the start of pre-season on Monday, ready to put the building blocks in place for the new campaign.
After a six-week break following the Dragons clash in May, the squad, which includes a raft of new faces, will be back together at Parc y Scarlets for the first block of training.
It’s been a busy summer of recruitment already with seven new signings confirmed.
Those include locks Alex Groves from the DHL Stormers and Welsh-qualified Harvey Cuckson from Bath – both featured for the Scarlets on loan last season.
Hooker John McKee arrives from URC champions Leinster, while North Walian George Roberts will add to the competition for the No. 2 jersey.
There will be a warm welcome back to Llanelli for talented young back Isaac Murray-Macgregor (pictured), a cousin of Scarlets and Wales centre Joe Roberts. Wales international prop Corey Domachowski was our first announced signing and will be looking to make a mark down west after a decade in the Welsh capital.
Our latest new recruit, All Black Cullen Grace, will be playing for Canterbury in the NPC and he will link up with the squad in the autumn.
As for the Scarlets’ Wales and U20s contingent, they are in action on Saturday with eight players in Steve Tandy’s 23-strong squad to face the Barbarians in Twickenham, while Carwyn Leggatt-Jones, Jac Pritchard, Will Evans and Yestyn Cook are set to feature for the U20s in their Junior World Cup opener in Tblisi.
As for pre-season fixtures, we have already announced one game, against Gallagher PREM side Saracens at Parc y Scarlets on Friday, September 18, with further dates to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
