Second row Will Evans is the latest player to sign a new contract with the Senior Academy.

The 18-year-old lock was outstanding during the summer fixtures for the Scarlets U18s, but missed the Regional Age Grade title-winning campaign because of injury.

Standing at 6ft 6in and 18st 5lbs, Will is a powerful carrier at the heart of the Scarlets pack.

He featured for Wales U18s last season and after returning from injury played in the recent Six Nations festival in Parma.

Will played his junior rugby for Chobham RFC and has been studying at Llandovery College while at the Academy.

Scarlets Academy head coach Scott Sneddon said: “Will has been with us a couple of years having come through the Exiles programme. He has gone from strength in strength in terms of his ball carrying and has really physically developed despite struggling with injury this year. He has a real mindset to want to carry.

“Having only been in the programme a couple of years, he has a high ceiling and we look forward to seeing how he develops over the next 18 months in terms of his set piece and line-out work. He has a great opportunity to really kick on.”
