Teens take centre stage on URC Kids Round

URC Kids Round came to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday night with a ‘Teen Takeover’ twist.

For a third year at the Parc, we welcomed young Scarlets fans to take on matchday roles and they performed the jobs brilliantly.

Fifteen-year-old Ellis Francis was on the mic alongside our regular matchday presenter Luke Davies, reading out the teams before kick-off.

Celt Edwards and Tom Llewellin, both 13 from Ysgol Bro Preseli, took over the club’s Instagram channel, taking some great photos and videos of all the pre-match build-up, including bumping into some Scarlets favourites like Liam Williams and their school’s former pupil Macs Page along the way.

Thirteen-year-old Haydn Griffiths was on hand to help our official photographer Riley Sports Photography and took some amazing shots of the night (you can see some of Haydn’s pics on our Facebook and Instagram page), starting off in the FSG Supporters Village, where there was an esports stand for the kids to enjoy and then onto the game.

Sam Phillips, 15, shadowed our videographer Matty Lynch – keep an eye on our social channels for a video of Sam behind the lens!!

Hannah Harries and Oliver Withers joined our Community team for their match-day activities, including helping organise the matchday parade and guard of honour and the fun half-time ‘Kick it like Costy’ competition which saw three young players from our junior clubs battle it out for the prize of a training session with the Scarlets.

And how good were all three?

Elis from Cefneithin RFC U12s, Kaiden from Tenby U13s and Gwion from Kidwelly U12s showed dead-eyed accuracy, but it was Elis who came out on top, nailing all three of his kicks at goal.

Our match-day mascot, leading out the side with skipper Fletcher Anderson, was six-year-old Bella Griffiths. Bella’s favourite player is Blair Murray.

Thirteen-year-old Harrison Mann joined the commercial team, met commercial partners and sponsors as they arrived for hospitality at Parc y Scarlets and had the opportunity to escort players on their half-time Executive Box duties.

George Golding linked up with Italian referee Gianluca Gnecchi and his assistants, where he conducted the coin toss – with a large chocolate coin of course, as a prize for winning a competition with OUTsurance.

Finally, eight-year-old Harri Thomas had the honour of presenting the BKT URC player-of-the-match medal to Springbok World Cup winner Handre Pollard after his outstanding match-winning performance for the Bulls, a moment captured by the Premier Sports cameras.
