Scarlets head coach Brad Mooar has paid a glowing tribute to fly-half Ryan Lamb, whose stay in West Wales with the Scarlets comes to an end at the end of the month.
The experienced No. 10 was brought on board on a short-term loan to provide cover for the injured Rhys Patchell and has been an outstanding addition to the squad at Parc y Scarlets.
His original stay was meant to be until December, but that was extended until Rhys’s expected return from shoulder injury.
“Lamby has brought everything he told me he would!” said Brad.
“He has been outstanding around the group and particularly our group of young backs, he has done everything you could ask of a senior pro.
“A lot of the impact he has made the supporters would probably not have seen, in the preparation for games, looking at opposition, strategising. He has been superb.”
The 33-year-old wore the Scarlets jersey six times in all, including the European Challenge Cup ties at home to London Irish and out in France against Toulon and Bayonne, as well as the Boxing Day derby victory over the Ospreys.
“You could see his experience come through when we were out in Toulon and when he came on in the second half against London Irish,” added Brad.
“He has also been a brilliant character to have around the place, he has been great for the team spirit, a great laugh, he’s been able to arrange the odd perk here and there for the boys and has also been an outstanding big brother to Tex Ratuva!
“We want to recognise the commitment he has made, but also that of his family who have been at home in Gloucester and also his business partner who has been looking after the cafe while he has been here with us.
“We wish him well in the next chapter, whatever that may be.”
