Carmarthen Quins and Llandovery maintained their impressive starts to the Super Rygbi Cymru season with victories on Saturday afternoon.
Wing Thomas Williams scored his second try in as many games as the Quins beat Pontypool 24-12 at Carmarthen Park. Fly-half Elis Price kicked three conversions and a penalty. Ioan Jones and Ben Williams also started for the Quins, who sit third in the table after three rounds, while Osian Williams and Gabe McDonald were among the replacements.
The Drovers returned from North Wales with a 41-31 win over RGC. Local boy Dylan Alford started against his former side along with fellow second row Dan Gemine.
The Drovers had six of the Scarlets Senior Academy on the bench – Tom Phillips, Jac Pritchard, Kai Jones, Tiaan Sparrow, Gryff Watkins and Steff Jac Jones.
Second row Sam Williams made his return from long-term injury in Llanelli Wanderers’ last-gasp WRU Premiership Cup win over Narberth. Making his first appearance in 12 months, Sam played 65 minutes in the 26-25 win. Elsewhere, wing Callum Woolley started for Llangennech in their 50-19 home defeat to Merthyr in the same competition.
