Scarlets enjoyed a fantastic week at the Eisteddfod y Garreg Las, meeting supporters, inspiring youngsters and celebrating the language and identity at the heart of west Wales.
In the stunning surroundings of Llantood, north Pembrokeshire, Scarlets were based at ‘Pentref Plant’ giving children the chance to get involved in a host of activities, including their inflatable rugby passing game, colouring and fun skills sessions.
Scarlets mascot Cochyn was also there joining in the fun, making an appearance throughout the week.
Wednesday proved a particular highlight as five of the Scarlets playing squad joined the fun. Josh Macleod, Ioan Nicholas, Macs Page, Jac Price and Archie Hughes met supporters, signed autographs, posed for selfies and took part in the skills session.
The visit offered supporters the chance to get up close with the players away from the pitch, while also underlining the special connection between the Scarlets and their Welsh speaking heartland. Josh, Ioan, Macs and Jac are all Welsh speakers, with Archie currently learning the language.
For the Foundation, the Eisteddfod was another opportunity to take the club into the communities it represents and celebrate what makes the region unique – its people, culture, language and passion for rugby.
The Foundation’s community work continues later this month, when the team heads to the Pembrokeshire Show on August 19 and 20.
